Baseball bat gang in raid on garden centre

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at a Warrington garden centre in which a police car was rammed and an officer threatened.

The raid was just before midnight at Bents Garden and Home, in Warrington Road, Glazebury on Wednesday, March 15.

A white van and two cars pulled up outside the garden centre and a group of men attempted to smash their way into the store.

Police arrived on the scene and a police car was rammed by one of the raiders’ cars and several men armed with baseball bats threatened an officer.

He was left badly shaken and is now being supported by supervising officers.

The driver of the van is believed to have left the scene in a red Volkswagen Golf. The other vehicles also left the scene, however the van was abandoned at the car park.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police immediately on 101 quoting incident number 1064 of 15 March.
