CULCHETH-based Leigh Golf Club’s women’s team have achieved a first for the club by reaching the finals of the Mail on Sunday national golf club classic.
The finals will be played during late November in southern Spain.
Seven players made up the team – captain Mhairi Ferrol, Nikki Martin, Rachel Higson, Heather Pirrie, Joanne Lennox Warburton, Penny Moorfield and Tracey Sherwood.
Mhairi Ferrol said: “The incredible team spirit and camaraderie has got us to this point – who knows what we can achieve in Spain?”
Teams the women beat on the way were Ashton In Makerfield, Shore Hill, Alsager, Ringway, Formby, Ulverston, Llanymynech and Howley Hall.
