WARRINGTON Town Hall will host a civic reception for Warrington Town FC and their Northern Irish opponents Crewe United tonight.
The Lisburn team visit Cantilever Park tomorrow in the latest round of the annual Peace Cup tournament.
The civic event also marks Warrington Town’s league success last season which saw them promoted to Evo Stik Premier Division.
A young Warrington Town team lost out 3-2 to Crewe United when they visited Northern Ireland last year, after previously winning the trophy 10-0 in 2014.
Mayor of Warrington Cllr Faisal Rashid said: “We are delighted to welcome our Northern Irish visitors to the Town Hall before they play in the Peace Cup. It is also an opportunity to celebrate Warrington Town’s excellent season and wish them good luck this year.”
Crewe United were the first Northern Ireland group to visit Warrington following the 1993 bombing atrocity which claimed the lives of 12-year-old Tim Parry and three-year-old Johnathan Ball.
The annual Peace Cup was the idea of Warrington councillor Mike Hannon.
