MEMBERS of Warrington Rotary club are gearing up for a charity banger rally in September travelling across eight countries from the Manchester Ship Canal to the Grand Canal in Venice.
President Eric Russell and four other club members will be travelling in two old bangers covering 1,250 miles over five days – aiming to raise £3,000 to be split between three charities,
St Rocco’s Hospice, St Joseph’s Family centre and the international Rotary appeal to help eradicate polio.
Eric and fellow Rotarian Joe Chiappa launched the fund-raising appeal at St Rocco’s 30th anniversary open day.
They will be taking part in the annual Motorscape Rally Road trip, with two other Rotary clubs.
Eric said: “I was sat in the pub having a pint when I spotted something on twitter about the rally and thought “We can do that” and the rest is history!”
Sponsorship can be pledged at https://www.justgiving.com/rc-warrington/
