BRAINY youngsters from Warrington will be testing their mental agility as they take part in a “Mathathon” to raise money for the Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Foundation for Peace Centre.
Students from the Warrington North Kumon Centre will challenge themselves to complete as many sums as possible in 10 minutes during the Mathathon.
All the sponsor money raised from the event, which takes place on June 3 and June 7, will be donated to the Warrington Peace Centre.
Students will be sponsored per sum, with the more completed the more money raised.
Jane Kerfoot, instructor at the Warrington North Kumon Centre, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this national event. The Mathathon should be a lot of fun for everyone involved – students, friends, families, assistants and Instructors – the more people who get involved the more successful the event will be!
“Kumon maths is about building confidence, as well as speed and accuracy, and is designed to complement maths studied at school and enhance children’s learning. The Mathathon gives my students an excellent opportunity to apply the skills they have learned for a very worthy cause and for other children to get a taste of what the programme entails.”
The event is being run in conjunction with all the other Kumon Centres in Great Britain and Ireland between May 26 and June 7.
