45 to visit French twin town

A GROUP of 45 people from Lymm are to go on an informal visit to its twin town Meung-sur-Loire in France.
The group will spend four nights staying with families in the Loire Valley.
Peter Birchall, chairman of Lymm Twin Town Society, said it was not a civic twinning visit, but a visit of “old and new friends” of the French partners.
Peter said: “The visit marks a second celebration of 40 years of friendship between the two communities.”
Meung’s newly-elected Mayor, Mme. Pauline Martin, visited Lymm with her husband and three children for the first time last year. She is eager to create links between Meung’s four primary schools and those in Lymm and to try and re-establish a link with Lymm High School.
There are also plans to link Brookfield retirement home in Lymm with the Maison de Retraite in Meung, so that the older people can exchange cards, photos and news. Both homes have residents who have taken part in twinning visits during the past 40 years.
