POLICE are stepping up patrols in Warrington following an outbreak of hooliganism which often targeted elderly or vulnerable people.
Officers are concentrating on the Gorsy Lane area at Longford after reports of 15 different anti-social behaviour incidents during the past two months.
Many of these reports have involved eggs being thrown at houses and in some cases elderly residents.
PCSO Jo McDonough said: “Residents have had to live with increasing anti-social behaviour in the area in which they live.
“The reports suggest those responsible could be youths and I want to reassure residents that we are taking these reports seriously and are doing all we can to piece together as much information as possible in relation to each incident.”
Police now want anyone with any information about the incidents to contact them as soon as possible, in the hope of catching the offenders before they can strike again.
PCSO McDonough added: “Whoever is responsible for these incidents is preying on retired and often vulnerable members of our community.
“This is completely unacceptable and we need the continued help of the public to trace those responsible.”
Residents can report any incidents to police by contacting 0845 458 0000 or alternatively by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
