BOROUGH council planning chiefs have thrown out plans to convert two old agricultural buildings into offices.
Members of the development control committee decided the scheme would be virtually a complete reconstruction of the buildings on Sandy Brow Lane, Croft and would be inappropriate for the area.
The scheme was triggered a storm of protest locally, with neighbours and Croft Parish Council lodging objections
They argued that already bad traffic conditions would be worsened, there would be a loss of the area’s agricultural character and the 60mph speed limit combined with an adjacent bend would create road safety problems.
The committee also concluded there would only be limited benefits in terms of contributing to rural employment objectives.
