MORE than 70 people rolled up their sleeves and spent a Sunday giving a Warrington cricket club a facelift in a bid to attract new members and improve facilities.
Members, families and friends helped out at Rylands Cricket Club as part of NatWest Cricket Force, a national event with more than 1,000 clubs taking part.
At Rylands the sight screens, fences and changing rooms were painted and new fences put up.
Club spokeswoman Jayne Horton said: “Rylands main objectives for the day were to freshen up the appearance both inside and out of the Club Pavilion as well as the surrounding areas of the cricket pitch.
“Donations of paint and other necessary materials were given by Travis Perkins, Lymm, and many thanks are sent from the club to Martin Maxfield from Travis Perkins.” It was a bright start to the season – which starts for real this Saturday (April 19) – for the up and coming club which plays in the Cheshire Alliance and has also recently been awarded ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) Club Mark status.
