Extension plan at historic school

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are being asked to approve proposals for a two-storey extension to a century-old primary school.
The development at Oakwood Avenue Primary School would follow on from a recently completed extension to the school’s infants’ department and would allow an increase in pupil numbers to move through the school years to the junior department.
It would allow the overall number of pupils to increase from 510 to 630.
Planners say the junior school block, a red-brick building of two and three storeys, is a locally listed building and a good example, typical of its age and function.
One objection has been received from a resident of Pinewood Avenue who is concerned about the impact of bats seen in the school grounds, the loss of trees, noise and parking problems.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved and say it will not have any impact on the residential amenity of nearby houses, nor on the bats.
