Warrington Youth Zone welcomed a team of dedicated graduates from Sellafield Ltd for a day of volunteering recently, as part of preparations for the Youth Zone’s upcoming 4th birthday celebrations and relaunch party this July.
The hardworking graduates spent the day carrying out a variety of tasks to help refresh the Youth Zone, including painting architraves and skirting boards, organising the library, and completing cleaning tasks throughout the building. Their efforts have helped ensure the Youth Zone is looking its best ahead of a milestone summer celebration.
In addition to donating their time, Sellafield Ltd also generously covered the costs of paint and cleaning materials, providing further support to Warrington Youth Zone.
The volunteering day builds on the strong ongoing partnership between Sellafield Ltd and Warrington Youth Zone. As a Founder Patron, Sellafield provides a generous annual donation towards the Youth Zone’s Train Like A Pro project, which supports its sports programme and helps create opportunities for young people to develop their skills, confidence, and wellbeing through physical activity.
Jamie Patterson, Head of Fundraising at Warrington Youth Zone said “I am thrilled the graduates from Sellafield were able to join us at Warrington Youth Zone for the day. We are open seven days a week for young people, and it’s quickly approaching our fourth year of operation, so our paintwork was in serious need of refreshing.
Not only do Sellafield provide a generous annual donation to ensure we can continue doing our amazing work each day, but providing this volunteer support showcases their dedication to supporting young people from across Warrington. Thank you, Sellafield!”
Nicola O’Keeffe, Sellafield Ltd’s Chief Financial Officer added: “I’m delighted that some of our Warrington based graduates were able to visit the Youth Zone and help rejuvenate paint work in the Youth Zone to support their relaunch on 11th July. It’s great that our next generation of nuclear workers are getting involved in projects that support our local communities.”
