THIRTY colleagues from a Warrington housebuilder have raised £11,350 for two north west charities.
The team from David Wilson Homes North West completed a charity challenge, virtually rowing the full distance from Land’s End to Dover to raise thousands for St. Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington and The Oasis Centre in Gorton, Manchester. The division’s donation was matched by the Barratt Redrow Foundation, the charitable arm of Barratt Redrow plc. The Foundation has donated over £17m to good causes.
Six teams collectively rowed the 350 miles at the company’s head office at Birchwood Park in seven hours and thirty-seven minutes.
St. Rocco’s Hospice provides specialist care and support for people with life‑limiting illnesses and their families, while The Oasis Centre offers practical help, food support, education programmes and crisis assistance for people facing poverty, homelessness and social isolation.
Claire Jarvis, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “Raising more than £11,000 in just one day is an exceptional achievement and a testament to the commitment and generosity of our teams. St. Rocco’s Hospice and The Oasis Centre deliver life‑changing support for local families, and we’re proud to stand alongside them through our fundraising and wider community work.”
Representatives from both charities attended the day to cheer the teams on and returned for a cheque presentation.
Andrew Crowe, CEO at The Oasis Centre, said: “The Oasis Centre is so grateful to David Wilson Homes, the challenge participants, and everyone who sponsored the event. All the funds raised will be used to support the users of our Centre in East Manchester in their own challenges that they face in everyday life.”
Jo Shaw, philanthropy fundraiser, St Rocco’s Hospice said: “We are incredibly grateful to David Wilson Homes for this generous donation and for choosing to support St Rocco’s Hospice. This funding will help us continue to provide specialist care and emotional support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as those who matter most to them. Every donation makes a real difference, helping us to make every day count for the people and families we support across Warrington.”
The housebuilder is a committed supporter of charitable causes, making regular donations at a divisional level as well as through the Barratt Redrow Foundation – the charitable arm of Barratt Redrow plc, of which the David Wilson Homes brand is part. The Foundation exists to help communities across the UK thrive, with a particular focus on supporting children, young people, and those facing the greatest disadvantage.
