Residents urged to focus on mental health ahead of World Mental Health Day

Warrington Borough Council is encouraging residents to take time to focus on their mental health and wellbeing ahead of World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October.

This year’s World Mental Health Day theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change’, highlighting the importance of listening to and learning from people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
Whether you are experiencing challenges yourself or supporting a friend or family member, World Mental Health Day provides an opportunity to start conversations, challenge stigma and highlight the mental health support available.

Help, guidance and local support can be accessed through Happy? OK? Sad?, Warrington’s mental health website. The online hub brings together information, resources and services designed to help people of all ages find the support they need, when they need it. The website includes advice on maintaining good mental wellbeing, coping with life’s challenges, supporting others, and accessing local services for more specialist help.
Cllr Tony Higgins, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, said: “World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on our mental wellbeing and support those around us.
“This year’s theme reminds us of the power of listening and ensuring that people’s voices are heard. Whether you’re experiencing difficulties yourself or supporting someone else, help is available. I’d encourage anyone looking for information, advice or support to visit Warrington’s Happy? OK? Sad? website and find out what services are available locally.”
