Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ (WHH) Charity is marking its 30th anniversary with a special 30-hour live takeover on Warrington Hospital’s Radio General, bringing music, celebrations and stories to patients, staff and supporters across our communities.

Now proudly supporting patients, families and NHS staff across North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust, WHH Charity continues to make a real difference through the generosity and kindness of local people.
The charity broadcast will begin at 11am on Friday 29 May and continue through to 5pm on Saturday 30 May, featuring live interviews, music requests, charity celebration features and special moments throughout the event.
The live launch will take place at the main entrance of Warrington Hospital, where Radio General presenters and charity volunteers will be broadcasting live on air, speaking to volunteers, staff, patients and visitors about the impact WHH Charity has made over the last three decades.
Throughout the 30-hour broadcast, listeners will be able to enjoy a wide range of music, hear charity celebration spots presented by DJs and listen to stories highlighting the impact WHH Charity has made across local hospitals and communities over the last 30 years. Charity volunteer Chrissi Richards will also be supporting the live broadcast team during the event.

Patients at Warrington Hospital can listen to Radio General directly from their bedside units by pressing the orange RADIO button and tuning into HOSPITAL RADIO using the ▼ and ▲ buttons. Staff, visitors and members of the public can also listen online through the Radio General website.
Listeners are encouraged to get involved by requesting songs and sharing messages throughout the broadcast. Music requests can be made free of charge from bedside units by dialling *800. Requests can also be sent by calling or WhatsApping 01925 662122 or by emailing radiogeneral.studio@gmail.com.
Keith Inman, Radio General volunteer, said: “We’re really excited to be part of WHH Charity’s 30th anniversary celebrations. Radio has always been about bringing people together, lifting spirits and creating moments of connection for patients, staff and families across our communities.
“This special takeover is a chance to celebrate the incredible work of the charity while sharing great music, stories and memories with everyone listening. We would love people to tune in, get involved and send in their favourite song requests.”

Radio General broadcasts 24 hours a day with music and entertainment to suit all tastes, helping provide comfort and companionship to patients across the trust.
