AN imaginative plan to rescue a historic farmhouse from deterioration through arson and vandalism has been given the green light by Warrington planning chiefs.
Grade 2 Listed Cinnamon Farm, in Cinnamon Lane, Poulton-with-Fearnhead is thought to be an early mid-18th century rebuilding of an earlier property on the same site.
It has stood unoccupied for a number of years and has suffered severe damage from arson and vandalism.
Two objections were received from members of the public on the grounds the proposal did not respect the Grade 2 Listed status of the property and concerns that there may be subsequent proposals for the wider site.
Earlier proposals, withdrawn in 2022, had suggested six new properties on the site.
But the current scheme is for a side extension and subdivision of the farmhouse into a pair of three-bedroom dwellings, with a new access onto Cinnamon Lane.
Applicants, the Emerald Bay Group, say they firmly believe the proposal will safeguard the building for future generations to enjoy its rich history.
Planning officers decided there would be little harm to the significance of the Listed Building and the proposals would preserve its historic fabric.
