ONE person was taken to hospital and 12 homes were evacuated due to a gas leak risk after a car collided into a house at Glazebury, Warrington, yesterday, Sunday.
At 15:25 two fire engines from Warrington and Lymm and the major rescue unit from Lymm attended reports of an incident at Millbrook Close, Glazebury.
Emergency services were called after a car crashed into a detached house on Millbrook Close, which led to concerns about damage to a gas main.
The driver of the car was taken to hospital, and three passengers were also checked over by paramedics at the scene.
As a precaution, around 12 homes were evacuated due to the gas leak risk. Residents were relocated to another property while the incident was dealt with. Cadent Gas isolated the supply, and the vehicle was recovered.
The incident was left with the police to manage the scene, with support from local authority teams to check the building’s safety.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed this morning: “At 3.23pm on Sunday 26 October, police were called to reports of a collision in Millbrook Close, Warrington.
“The collision involved one vehicle which had collided with a house and damaged a gas main. There were no reports of any serious injuries.
“Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution while the incident was dealt with. All residents have since returned apart from one property next to the affected building.
“A cordon remains in place as a precautionary measure while the local authority evaluates the structural damage.”
