THE publication of the 2025 GCSE results has brought good news for Warrington students with the overall pass marks above the national average.
Hundreds of GCSE students in Warrington have received their GCSE results today. Many students getting their results today were in year 6 when the first COVID lockdown was announced and will have started their secondary school learning in ‘bubbles’ – this is a day to celebrate their resilience as well as success.
Warrington grades have remained high, higher than the England averages that are being reported today:
• The overall ‘pass’ mark, grade 4, or above for GCSEs is 74.1% (England 70.5%)
• The proportion of grades 7 and above are 24.6% (England 23%)
Cllr Matt Smith, Cabinet Member, Children’s, Families and Education, said: “Students collecting their GCSE results can be so proud of all they have achieved. It is important that we celebrate the hard work of everyone – the students, teachers and parents. We wish all our students the very best of luck for their next stage of education or employment.”
Locally Sir Thomas Boteler High School celebrated the “best ever” results in the history of the school.
