Tory group has new leader

THE Conservative group on Warrington Borough Council has a new leader.
Cllr Paul Kennedy (pictured), who represents Hatton, Stretton and Walton, has taken over from former councillor Keith Bland, of Culcheth, who lost his seat in the elections.
With former councillor Paul Campbell also losing his seat at Penketh, the group has been reduced to four.
Cllr Kennedy, who comfortably retained his seat, said: “I will work with the controlling Labour group for the good of Warrington.
“This means we will support them when we think they are doing things right, but will not hesitate to say so if we think they are not.”

  1. Congratulations to Cllr Paul Kennedy from me too…. Paul I’m so pleased that you retained your seat as the Borough Councillor in the ward where I live. Your help over the past 4 years when I alone have contacted you has been exemplary and was/still is very much appreciated.

As already said, thoroughly well deserved on both counts 🙂 Just a pitty you are a conservative but in your case I can overlook that fact ha ha 😉

  2. Isn’t it a shame though that there will have been many good community conservative councillors across the country who lost their seats because of party politics and not what was best for their community?….. The same thing happened when Labour was in, they got a kicking and many good councillors lost their seats…….Party politics should be kept out of local government

  3. I too am pleased you held your seat Paul, it’s a pity there aren’t more Conservatives like you. You take people at face value and deal with their problems regardless of their political leanings, which is why you have received so many good wishes.

  4. How right you are Baz. It has always amazed me that party politics has also intruded unnecessarily into Parish Council matters. Sadly the days of the truly independent politicians are now long gone, mores the pity.
