HEARTLESS thieves broke into a warehouse used by a charity and stole items collected for distribution to the homeless and needy.

But the team at Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Warrington heard about the incident and, together with other businesses, decided to replace the stolen stock.
Items from the Amazon centre were collected and volunteers delivered them to the charity, The Whitechapel Centre a leading homeless and housing charity , in Liverpool.
Food, clothing and toiletries were donated to the charity.
Verzhiniya Atanasova, a volunteer from Amazon’s Warrington fulfilment centre, said: “We were shocked to hear of the break-in at The Whitechapel Centre and wanted to help the charity recover what was taken.

Toni-Marie Roberts, fundraiser at The Whitechapel Centre said: “Nobody expects such things to happen, least of all to a charity. The donation from the team at Amazon in Warrington provided a real boost to our team and meant we could maintain focus on our goal of serving people who are sleeping rough, living in hostels or struggling to manage their housing situation. Thank you, team!”
Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised more than £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
