Alleged shoplifter arrested after hiding items from a charity shop down his trousers

A shoplifter who allegedly hid items down his trousers in a charity shop in Warrington town centre was arrested after being spotted by an eagle-eyed CCTV Operator.

Officers were also made aware that he was also alleged to have stolen a TV from a different town centre shop the night before.
Officers searched his home address and recovered evidence the TV had been there (the empty box and security tags) and property was recovered from his person during the arrest.

A Cheshire police spokesperson confirmed: “At 1.50pm on Thursday 17 July, police were called to reports of a possible shoplifting offences at a charity shop on Buttermarket Street, Warrington
Officers and arrested a 30-year-old local man.
“Sean Booth, of Bridge Street, Warrington, has since been charged with two counts of theft from a shop.
“He has been bailed to appear at Warrington Magistrates on 6 August.”
