Burglar arrested following swift response by police

POLICE swooped to arrest a suspected burglar following reports of a male attempting to force entry to a property on Bewsey Street, Warrington, earlier today.

At around 1.30 pm today, Wednesday 30 April, police were called to reports that an unknown man had attempted to force entry to a property on Bewsey Street.
Officers were immediately deployed to the scene and found that the offender had broken a rear window and gained access to the address.
A short time later, officers located and arrested a 43-year-old man from Widnes on suspicion of burglary.

Following the arrest, Chief Inspector Robert McLoughlin, of Warrington Local Policing Unit said: “Burglaries of all nature are not acceptable, and we are committed to doing all we can to ensure those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
“On this occasion, as a result of the swift attendance at the scene, and a co-ordinated search of the area, a man was arrested almost immediately after the incident and is now being held in police custody, assisting us with our enquires.
“I hope that this arrest provides reassurance to local residents and businesses that tackling these types of crimes is a priority for us as we understand the impact it has, whether it’s someone’s home or someone’s livelihood.
“The effect that this type of crime has on the victims and the local community should not be underestimated so we will continue to make every effort to find those responsible and put them before the courts.”
