CAT-lovers in Warrington raised an incredible £2,881.40 for the Cats Protection Warrington Cat Centre – thanks to the bravery of 11 people who took part in a firewalk and the generous support of the local community.

Warrington Cat Centre community fundraising manager Louise Lawless said: “We are so grateful to everyone who took part or sponsored our participants, making the event such a success.
“We were also supported by stall holders, staff, and volunteers who helped on the night, as well as the incredible community spirit shown by the centre’s neighbours, many of whom came along to cheer us on. It truly shows how much can be achieved for animal welfare when we come together.”
Every participant went above and beyond for the charity, including 72-year-old Christine, a long-term supporter who raised an impressive £191.
She said: “I try to support various charities through monthly donations or fundraising.
“After losing my husband and the love of my life nearly eight years ago, I adopted two kittens from Cats Protection and named them Phillip and PJ after him.

“This year, I adopted another kitten from the charity and named her Mo (Mona) in memory of my mum. She’s now part of my home along with three dogs, three chickens, two guinea pigs, and eight rats. As you can see, I’m an animal lover!
“I felt a real sense of accomplishment taking on the challenge and even raised more sponsorship than I thought I would. If I can do it, so can you—just go for it!
“I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more fundraising events to participate in.”
The funds raised from the Firewalk will directly benefit Cats Protection Warrington Cat Centre, helping to provide vital care and support for cats in need.
This festive season, the centre invites the Warrington community to join them for their Christmas Open Day on Sunday December 8, 11am – 3pm. This event is a wonderful opportunity to support the centre – and no fire required!
