FOUR Warrington schools are to be presented with awards in a new council-run initiative to promote and build on the high standards of music education in schools across the borough.
Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, Culcheth Primary School, St Margaret’s CE Primary School and St Peter’s RC Primary School will all receive Music Ambassador School status awards from the Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr and Mrs Bike Biggin, at the Town Hall on Monday, January 9.
The Music Ambassador School Awards is a new council run initiative to promote and build on the high standard of music education in schools throughout the borough, which has already been recognised as being outstanding.
The award is held by each school for three years, but the application process will take place on an annual basis.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, the council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “I think the Music Ambassador School awards are a fantastic initiative that will really help further develop musical education in Warrington. All of our young people experience whole class music teaching which is of a high standard but we want to make it even better.
“Music can not only enrich children’s lives but also play a valuable role in their learning and development.
“Congratulations to the first four ambassador schools – I wish them every success for the future and I’ve no doubt this project will go from strength to strength.”
