WARRINGTON Sports Club squash player Jackie Keasley is celebrating as part of the winning team in the first leg of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race!
Jackie is currently taking part in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and her Yacht Perseverance, won the first leg, arriving with a good lead in Spain yesterday.
After making a fantastic move to the north early on day two, in the English Channel, they created a superb wind angle and never looked back. A decisive move early in the race and they pretty much led the fleet from that point onwards driving forwards to pull away at every opportunity.
The Clipper Round the World yacht race is a 40,000 nautical mile treacherous journey around the world on 70ft Yachts.
Jackie and the crew set off on the 3rd of September and she’ll be on half of the voyage, sailing 21,000 miles before alighting in North Australia early 2024.
She’s raising money for UNICEF and is asking if people could all raise a smile a mile and donate 10p for every mile worth of exercise she does.
She wants to raise 10p for every mile sailed = £2100!
You can follow her Facebook page here and cheer her on throughout this incredible journey!
The 2nd leg starts on September 15.
