VIDEO: Remembering Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball and all those affected by the Warrington Bombing 29 years after the IRA planted bombs in two bins on Bridge Street.
The IRA bomb attack, later claimed the life of young mother Bronwen Vickers, who later died as a result of her injuries after losing a leg in the bomb blast, while more than 50 shoppers, out shopping the day before Mother’s day, were also injured, some seriously.
While there is no formal event to mark the 29th anniversary of the Warrington bombing, the family of Tim Parry, Colin and Wendy and their other children Dominic and Abbie, will be remembering the boys privately.
There are plans to have a large event next year to mark the 30th anniversary of the terrorist atrocity which played a major role in the peace process in Northern Ireland, as Warrington reached out with the hand of peace and reconciliation, building bridges with Irish communities. It led to the Good Friday agreement, which helped bring more peaceful times in Northern Ireland.
The Warrington Peace Centre went on to become a legacy of the boys and is now home to the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace.
Peace campaigner Colin Parry is hoping the Warrington community will come out in force next year to show their support for the work of the Peace Centre and to remember the boys and other victims of the atrocity.
