COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise in Warrington as 20 new cases confirmed

COVID-19 infection rates are continuing to raise in Warrington, with 20 new cases reported in Warrington for a second consecutive day by Public Health England.

The 20 (20) new COVID-19 cases comes as an NHS expert said the link between infections and serious illness appears to have been broken thanks to the vaccination programme.



The chief executive of NHS Providers Chris Hopson told Sky News: “We are seeing hospitalisation numbers increase in line with the increasing number of infections that we are seeing as a result of this Delta variant.
“But they are not… going to a level where we would be worried about the NHS being overwhelmed.
“They are increasing slowly.”The levels are significantly lower than we have seen in previous waves.”
Meanwhile, total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since the start of the pandemic is 18,071 (18,051).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days continue to rise, with 53 (47) – 25.2 (22.4) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– which remain below the national rate of 35.9 (35) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
Warrington & Halton Hospitals have temporarily suspended provided information due to a data validation exercise.
There have been no reported deaths at the hospital since April 27th and currently two COVID inpatients.
There have been a total of 497 COVID-related deaths at the hospital since the start of the pandemic.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 486 (486) 231.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 191.4
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is now 567 (567).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Saturday, June 5th 2021 was 13 (11), taking the total number of deaths to 127,836 (127,823).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 5,765 (6,238), taking the total number to 4,511,669 (4,506,018).
Across the country, there are 932(954) patients currently in hospital and 134 (134) on ventilation.
