THE Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning with more snow and ice forecast for Warrington overnight and the possibility of wintery showers over the weekend and into next week.
The council gritters have been out on major roads and people are being asked to only make essential journeys.
Forecast for This Evening and Tonight:
Further wintry showers tonight, falling as snow for some, especially over higher ground. Clear spells between showers with a widespread frost and a risk of ice. Feeling cold. Minimum temperature -3 °C.
Saturday:
Another frosty start with further wintry showers turning heavy at times and interspersed with clear spells. Snow falling over higher ground with a potential of reaching lower levels too. Cold. Maximum temperature 3 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Sunny spells and wintry showers on Sunday. Drier with sunny spells on Monday. Heavy and wintry rain on Tuesday. Feeling cold with risk of frost and ice throughout.
