New homes plan at historic Lymm farm

A PLAN to demolish indoor and outdoor riding arenas and replace them with three dwellings at Burford Farm, Burford Lane, Lymm has been submitted to the borough council.

Burford Farm itself, and two other buildings on the site – a barn and stables previously converted to residential use – are Grade 2 Listed, dating from around 1866 and designed by renowned Cheshire architect John Douglas.
But the buildings to be demolished are modern in style and their loss will not adversely affect the heritage value of the listed buildings, according to the applicant. The proposed new dwellings, on the other hand, will harmonize with listed buildings.
