Charity launches virtual Santa’s grotto

0

UNDETERRED after having to cancel their annual Santa’s grotto due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Warrington Disability Partnership has launched a virtual grotto for children in the town.

It was not an easy decision cancelling the event, especially as the charity relies heavily on fundraising income to support many of their unfunded services. However, the safety of their team and visitors was of paramount importance. As many of their team and visitors have a disability or long term condition, it was felt that running the grotto would put already vulnerable people at increased risk.
However, they are also are aware of the magic and joy that their grotto brings to those who visit and do not want children to miss out on speaking to Santa in what has been a difficult year for so many people. The hope that their Virtual Grotto will bring some of this Christmas Magic.
Each timeslot will last around 5 minutes and will cost £5. If you would like to include a present, the cost will be £7.50 – the presents can be collected from any of their services (details of how they can be collected, will be sent by email following a booking, as will the details of how to access your time slot, which will be hosted via Zoom).

Supported by Birchwood Shopping Centre, you can take part in their second Santa Dash (or walk/push, if you prefer!) at any time throughout December and January.
You can walk, push, jog, run or even cycle for at least 5km, all at your own pace and wherever you want to (in a park, around your local area, even in your garden). The entry fee is £12 which includes a five-piece Santa suit to wear whilst you take part in the challenge (although not compulsory), as well as a certificate and Christmas-themed medal upon completion.
