St Rocco’s supporter completes Everest and Hadrian’s Wall challenges during lockdown!

DURING both lockdowns, St. Rocco’s Hospice has been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the Warrington community, which has helped them to continue providing care to those most in need.

One such supporter, Stacey Higgins-Martin, has used both lockdowns as a way of raising money toward patient care at the hospice.
In April, during the first lockdown, Stacey climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest using just her stairs and managed to raise an amazing £4500. This time, she set herself the challenge to walk the equivalent of Hadrian’s Wall- a massive 140km- over the space of five days. She wasn’t alone this time though, and a team of nine friends and colleagues took on the challenge too and each of them covered the distance at all hours of the day! The team has raised an astounding £7300 as of 23rd November!
“St. Rocco’s has been such a big part of mine and my family’s lives over the years, so I’m always looking for a chance to give back and challenge myself, especially anything that gets me out and about” said Stacey.
“This challenge has been tough but I’m so thankful I haven’t done it alone and we’ve been one team with a big goal in mind.”
“All nine of this wonderful team- Stacey, Cerys, Andy, Hetty, Annie, Alysia, Katie, Gaynor and Mia- have done so well. We cannot even begin to express how grateful we are to them all for pushing themselves to do this. 140km each is not easy but they’ve absolutely smashed it and the money raised will go so far in helping us provide our care,” said Billy Welsby, Digital and Creative Editor at St. Rocco’s.
