Globe-trotting youngsters from two Warrington Primary Academy Trust schools created memories to last a lifetime during a 7-day adventure in China.
The 26-strong party of Year 4, 5 and 6 children spent three days at Jurong Country Garden School in Zhenjiang, 160 miles north west of the capital Shanghai, taking part in lessons, sports activities and art and craft activities.
They also enjoyed visiting landmarks in Shanghai and Nanjing, engaging with local communities, eating a range of different foods and experiencing daily life.
Chris Jones, Executive Headteacher of Bruche and Beamont Primary Academies, said: “The visit provided a unique opportunity for children to develop their cultural awareness, challenge their perspectives and gain a greater appreciation of diversity.
“Beyond the educational benefits, the trip played a significant role in developing pupils’ confidence, resilience and independence. Travelling internationally encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, adapt to new environments and demonstrate maturity and responsibility.”
He said the children represented both schools and their country with pride, displaying excellent behaviour, curiosity and respect throughout the visit.
“Our children had an incredible experience,” he added. “It has broadened aspirations, strengthened friendships and created memories that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, it has helped our pupils develop into more confident, open-minded and globally aware young people, equipped with a deeper understanding of the world beyond their local community.
“We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part and look forward to building on the valuable international links and opportunities this visit has provided.”
Beamont pupil Marcel said: “I loved meeting new friends and trying new lessons. My favourite was Chinese paper cutting. All of the food was great (the curry was the best), but I still can’t use chopsticks. I definitively feel more confident now, and more able to take risks. Best. Trip. Ever.”
Jurong Country Garden School said it was a “great pleasure” to host the Warrington pupils, adding: “The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in authentic cross-cultural learning, and we were truly impressed by their curiosity, openness, and warmth. We look forward to future collaborations that continue to build bridges between our school communities.”
The trip was made possible through the Global School Alliance (GSA), an organisation that enables educators from around the world to collaborate on projects and connect through student exchanges and school delegation visits.
Bruche Primary Academy and Beamont Primary Academy are part of Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT), a community of 9 schools with more than 2,600 children aged 2 to 11.
WPAT was formed in 2016 and quickly developed a national reputation for excellent standards. WPAT provides staff at all its schools with support, expertise and professional development so that they can provide the very best education standards for their children.
