Young people from Willow View School in Rochdale recently took part in a photography project during a visit to Willow Haven Centre – Five Rivers Child Care’s alternative provision – based within the woodland setting behind Gulliver’s World.

During their visit, the students explored the natural environment and captured a series of photographs inspired by the Land of Lights experience.
The resulting images have now been selected for display as part of the “Total Eclipse of the Art” exhibition in Padgate, where they will be showcased throughout June.
Sarah Vaughan, Lead Teacher at Willow Haven Centre said: “Seeing their work professionally exhibited in a public gallery has been an incredibly proud moment for the young people involved and highlights the creativity, talent and unique perspectives they bring.”

Willow Haven Centre is a specialist alternative provision that has recently opened, comprising six woodland cabins designed to provide therapeutic and nurturing learning opportunities for children and young people who have been struggling in a mainstream environment. Projects such as this help build confidence, encourage self-expression and create opportunities for young people to achieve success outside of traditional classroom environments.
Sarah added: “The photographs look truly fantastic displayed within a gallery setting and the exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to experience the creativity and artistic talent of local young people.”
