TWO MasterChefs with links to Warrington secured their coveted aprons as the final regular group phase concluded in dramatic fashion during a disrupted schedule.
Airing in a temporary slot on BBC Two to accommodate the Eurovision Song Contest, Heat 8 put six passionate amateur cooks through their paces under the watchful eyes of new judges Grace Dent and Anna Haugh.
The Heat 8 Hopefuls
The final group of six home cooks arrived with vastly different backgrounds but a shared dream of culinary stardom: Lymm mother of two Frankie Dunn (37, Cheshire): A globe-trotter showcasing extensive international travel through her food. Satya (32, London): Bringing vibrant Asian flavours rooted in her Gujarati and Cambodian heritage. Retired Sir Thomas Botler Headteacher John Sharples (70, Liverpool): The veteran of the group was looking to prove age is just a number in the kitchen.Jack, Jade, and Stuart: Rounding out the six, the line-up notably included two teachers, a pub manager, and a civil servant.
The contestants faced two high-stakes tasks, starting with the Signature Dish round.
The judges looked for home cooking elevated to the highest degree, resulting in standard-setting plates including an intricate Japanese sushi platter and spiced chargrilled paneer dishes.As the pressure mounted, two cooks saw their food dreams cut short and were sent home. The remaining contestants secured their official MasterChef aprons.
Sadly after the two course menu heat, John was sent home, Leaving Frankie flying the flag for Warrington in the quarter final which airs tonight, which is a studio cook.
