THE vibrant spirit of the forthcoming World Cup descended upon Culcheth Village Green on Bank Holiday Monday, as residents gathered for the annual Culcheth & Glazebury Community Day.

Organised by the Culcheth & Glazebury Parish Council, this year’s festivities transformed the local landmark into a global festival of sport and community pride.
Despite an overcast sky, the rain held off, providing fine and comfortable weather for the thousands of visitors who attended the Bank Holiday celebration.
Following an invitation from organisers to “embrace the theme,” the green was a sea of red, white and blue as attendees arrived sporting their favourite national football shirts.
From classic England jerseys to the iconic yellow of Brazil, the “friendly international spirit” was evident across all ages.
