WARRINGTON Rylands produced a thrilling comeback to book their place in the NPL Premier League final, edging past FC United of Manchester 3–2 in a pulsating clash at Broadhurst Park.

It was a nightmare start for Rylands as FC United struck after just three minutes, Jan Palinkas rising highest at the far post to thunder home a header and send the home crowd into raptures.

The pressure didn’t let up, with The Reds throwing everything forward—but Rylands refused to buckle.
Against the run of play, a lifeline arrived. Ben Hardcastle was brought down in the box and calmly slotted home the penalty to drag his side level and swing the momentum.

But the drama was far from over. FC United hit back quickly, Declan Evans smashing home from a corner after Rylands failed to clear their lines, restoring the hosts’ advantage and reigniting the noise around the ground.
Then came the turning point.

Clive Smith heads home

After the break, Rylands emerged with fire in their bellies. Clive Smith powered in a header to make it 2–2, silencing the home fans and setting up a grandstand finish. Just ten minutes later, George Waring delivered the killer blow—his header driven down into the turf and beyond Dan Atherton to complete a stunning turnaround.
Full-time scenes were electric, with manager Neil Reynolds hailing his side’s incredible spirit and refusal to give in with a ‘never say die’ attitude. Coming from behind in such an intense atmosphere made the victory even sweeter.
Now, all eyes turn to Bank Holiday Monday, where Rylands will battle Hednesford Town in the final—with momentum, belief, and a place in history within touching distance.
