RUNNERS of all abilities are invited to take part in the 40th anniversary of the Warrington 10K road race this summer at Woolston Park in June.
Organised by Warrington Road Runners, the popular local road race will take place on Tuesday 16 June at 7:30pm, starting and finishing in Woolston Park.
The race follows a two-lap, very flat 10km course around Woolston Park and the surrounding roads, making it ideal for both first-time runners and experienced athletes looking for a fast time. As one of the area’s most established running events, this year marks the 40th time the race has been organised, making it the longest-established 10K race in Warrington.
Race organiser Ceri Porter said: “Sign up for our 10K race in and around Woolston Park. It’s a race for all runners – from novice to experienced athletes – and all finishers receive a goody bag. If you are looking to participate in a 10K race on a fast course, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, then the Warrington 10K is the perfect event for you.”
Last year’s event attracted 263 finishers, with local resident Danny Cliffe taking victory and setting a new course record of 30 minutes and 53 seconds. The first female finisher was local runner Louise Blizzard, completing the course in 41 minutes and 35 seconds. The final finisher crossed the line in 1 hour and 31 minutes, highlighting the race’s welcoming atmosphere for runners of all abilities.
