Labour MP for Warrington South, Sarah Hall paid a visit to Lea Court Independent Hospital ahead of World Mental Health Day recently.

The hospital in Dallam, Warrington, is part of the Alternative Futures Group (AFG) and provides support to people living with mental health conditions.
The visit was planned ahead of World Mental Health Day, celebrated on the 10th of October. The day encourages individuals, communities, and organisations to come together to foster understanding and reduce stigma. The charity hosted a series of coffee mornings across its six independent hospitals throughout the Northwest, bringing together people supported by the charity and staff in warm, welcoming spaces designed to spark open conversations, reflection, and connection.
The coffee mornings formed part of AFG’s World Mental Health Day campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the charity’s work, amplify the real stories of people supported and highlight AFG’s position as a regional leader in person-centred mental health support.
A highlight of the day took place at Lea Court, where people supported by AFG participated in a mindfulness design workshop, creating drawings, writings, and photographs reflecting what makes them feel happy or proud. These creative pieces will be featured on a permanent Voices Wall, designed by AFG’s graphic designer and installed within the hospital as a lasting celebration of wellbeing, creativity, and community.

During her visit, Sarah toured the hospital, meeting staff and residents to learn more about the charity’s person-centred approach to recovery which is based around gaining independence and being part of the local community. The visit reflects her long-standing commitment to better mental health for local communities in Warrington.
Sarah Hall, MP commented on the visit: “It was a privilege to spend time at Lea Court and see the care that goes into supporting people with complex mental health needs and learning disabilities. “You can tell the staff put their hearts into what they do. It’s steady, patient work, helping people feel safe and understood. That’s what good mental health care looks like. Quiet dedication. Real compassion. And a belief that everyone deserves a fair chance.”
Chris Stephens, Chief Financial Officer at AFG welcomed the visit commenting: “I would like to thank Sarah for her commitment to improving mental health services across Warrington and we look forward to working together in partnership to make a real difference to the people we support and their communities.”
