THE back-office team at Warrington-based myGP has been praised after coming to the aid of a teenage girl who suffered a severe asthma attack near their office.
Four members of the private GP service back-office team – Damien, Tracy, Steph, and Suzanne – were out for a walk near their Antrobus site when they noticed a car pulled over, with a distressed family inside. The family was on holiday in the area, frantically searching for help – their teenage daughter was suffering a severe asthma attack and deteriorating fast.
By sheer chance, Dr. Stephen Coogan MBChB (hons) MRCGP was nearby at the new Antrobus facility, currently under renovation. Dr Coogan arrived on scene within a minute to find a young girl with a silent chest in visible respiratory distress.
A call was made to their Stretton clinic, just three minutes away. Despite being on their lunch break, the incredible team – Dr Ebrahim, Dr Rampling , Dr J Tipu, Dr Ovais Qureshi , Jamie (the HCA), Dr Saba Al-Din, and front-of-house Eleri – sprang into action.
By the time they arrived, they had fully prepared the treatment room: oxygen, nebulisers, and all hands ready. The young lady was immediately taken in, assessed, and treated. Eleri liaised with North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust, who responded promptly and took over.
After stabilisation and treatment, the young patient walked out of the clinic and into the ambulance for further care at Warrington Hospital.

Dr Coogan commented: “This was a reminder of why leadership is about the people you surround yourself with.
“When a young girl suffered a severe asthma attack near our Antrobus site, it was instinct, not instruction, that guided our team’s response.
“No protocols. No preparation. Just quick thinking, teamwork, and calm under pressure — from our back-office colleagues on a walk, to the clinical team at Stretton who dropped everything to prepare for her arrival.
“She walked into the ambulance stable and improving. That says everything.
“Proud to lead a clinic where culture, care and readiness aren’t just words — they’re lived daily.
“Thank you to everyone involved, and to North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for their swift and professional response.”
