Have your say on local pharmacy services

LOCAL people are being invited to have their say on a new report aimed at ensuring pharmacy services in Warrington meet the needs of the borough’s communities.

Warrington’s Health and Wellbeing Board has produced the first draft of its 2025 – 2028 Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) report.
The report presents a picture of local community pharmacies and pharmaceutical services. It assesses if, and how, these services could be used to further support the health and wellbeing of local people.
The Health and Wellbeing Board have now launched a public consultation giving people the chance to share their views on the PNA report.
The consultation closes on June 5.
It is a statutory duty for health and wellbeing boards to publish a PNA and keep it up to date.
The PNA is used by the NHS when they are reviewing applications to open a new pharmacy or approving any changes to existing contracts.

Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, the borough council’s cabinet member for health, wellbeing and social care and chair of Warrington’s Health and Wellbeing board said: “It’s important that we look into how pharmacies are meeting the needs of our residents, how they can continue to meet those needs and what can be done to further improve services.
“I would invite everyone to take a look at the PNA and have their say. All views will be taken on board as we move forward with our work to support high quality pharmacy services across Warrington.”

  1. Our local Pharmacy, Cohens, at the Westbrook Centre closes for a hour at Lunchtime and is closed all day Saturday and Sunday.
Because of this we changed our Pharmacy from them to Asda who are open on Saturday and Sunday.
Cohens are not providing the service that they should be and so are losing a lot of custom.

  2. In view of this and the current situation regarding Accident and emergency waiting times it is vital that pharmacies are open as much as they physically can.
The least Cohen’s could do was open 1 of the days a weekend.
