Fire crews tackle five fires in the open

FIREFIGHTERS were called out five times in the space of 24 hours to tackle fires in the open in Warrington.

At 21:31 last night (Thursday) on fire crew from Lymm attended reports of a fire on Grappenhall Lane.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish a hedgerow on fire in Warrington.

At 19:23 one crew from Warrington attended reports of a fire on Greenings Court. Water backpacks were used to extinguish a small fire in a wooded area.
At 17:42 one fire engine from Penketh attended reports of a fire on Mersey Street.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish a fire in a skip involving a mattress. This is believed to have been lit deliberately.
At 17:12 one crew from Warrington attended reports of a fire on Fieldview Drive.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish a controlled burn that had got out of control in Warrington.
At 00:58 one fire engine from Birchwood attended a small fire at a bus stop on Dam Lane, Woolston, involving newspaper was put out by firefighters using a hose reel.
