FOLLOWING recent suspicious activity in the Latchford area of Warrington, police are urging residents to secure their home and vehicles.
Over the past couple of weeks police have received reports of potential thieves trying front doors and car doors overnight.
Det Sgt Christian Gordon said: “While we investigate these reports, we’d urge residents to make sure you keep your doors locked, that goes for vehicles, houses and outbuildings such as sheds.
“The simple step of locking your door whether you’re in, or out, is vital in keeping opportunist thieves away. Don’t leave valuables on display and if you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area please contact us.”
Here are some crime prevention tips for you to consider:
• Consider using a timer to set your lights and radio to come on while you’re out
• Make sure all your doors and windows are secure
• Don’t leave valuables including purses, handbags and car keys on display or near external doors
• Don’t leave keys near the door or in view
• Consider getting CCTV or doorbell cameras
• Consider security marking valuable items with your house number and postcode with a UV pen, or mark it using property marking kits which consist of a traceable liquid to forensically mark valuables
