UP to eight weeks of evening road closures have been confirmed for the A56 Higher Lane at Lymm later this month (March) for carriageway resurfacing works.
The closures will take place from March 24 between 7 pm-1 am in a bid to minimise disruption.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: A56 Higher Lane from its junction with High Legh Road & Burford Lane to the Borough Boundary; High Legh Road from its junction with Higher Lane to Kay Lane.
The Order will be effective from 24th March 2025. The restrictions are for a period of 8 weeks, between 7pm to 1am, however, will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: A56 Higher Lane via B5159 High Legh Road, B5159 West Lane, A50 Warrington Road, A556 (north), A56 Lymm Road, A56 Agden Brow or via A56 Agden Brow, A56 Lymm Road, A556 (south) A5034 Chester Road, A50 Warrington Road, B5159 West Lane, B5159 High Legh Road; High Legh Road via B5159 West Lane, A50 Warrington Road, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, A56 Stockport Road, A56 Camsley Lane, A56 Booths Hill Road, A56 Higher Lane and vice versa. The restrictions are required for carriageway resurfacing.
