Cheshire Day rallying call to shine a light on the region’s food and drink gems

In the lead up to Cheshire Day 2025, residents who live and work in the region are being urged to celebrate the region’s food and drink gems, which make Cheshire such a mouthwatering place to visit and live.

Home to the nation’s first named cheese, farm-to-fork food, and notable forest-foraged gins, the official county day seeks to highlight the best of Cheshire’s food and drink in a weeklong culinary celebration between March 24-30.
Local artisans that are offering something uniquely Cheshire alongside their food will be showcased in this “bounty for the county”.
From Pastry Pédaleur’s ultimate Cheshire Cheesecake using Bournes Cheese, to Forest Distillery’s Cheshire Cocktail made with ingredients foraged from Macclesfield Forest, the people of Cheshire are encouraged to get out and about in Cheshire to sample these delicacies and dishes.
The rallying call comes amid the latest data which shows the region’s visitor economy is worth £3.9bn with more than 56m annual visitor days in Cheshire and Warrington.

The gauntlet has been thrown down by region’s tourism body Marketing Cheshire, and asks the people of Cheshire to tell them the best place for food and drink in the county for the chance to win an overnight stay with Breakfast at Hotel Indigo.
Businesses can get involved too by sharing their connection to Cheshire, whether that be a new opening or a quirky event.
Trevor Brocklebank, Chair of Marketing Cheshire, said: “Cheshire is home to many world-class tourism gems including a host of food and drink venues that we want to celebrate.
“It will be great to see locals and tourists sharing just why they love the wide-ranging brilliant businesses and produce our county has to offer in the lead up to Cheshire Day.”
As well as promoting attractions, leisure and hospitality businesses to visitors, Marketing Cheshire works with local councils including Cheshire West and Chester to improve the local tourism offer and promote the area as a great place to live, work and invest.

Marketing Cheshire utilises its Local Visitor Economy Partnership status from Visit England, to work in collaboration with neighbouring areas through initiatives such as English Tourism Week (14-23 March) to attract national and international visitors.
It also celebrates its partners’ contributions at the annual Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards which this year takes place at Chester Cathedral on March 6.
The awards champion everything from family attractions, wedding venues and holiday parks to accommodation providers, pubs and restaurants. Qualifying winners are automatically entered into the national Visit England Awards for Excellence to compete against the best in the country.
