A suspected drug-driver has been arrested following a four-vehicle collision which closed the M56 at Stretton, Warrington, on Monday night.
Cheshire police today confirmed the arrest following the incident at around 10.10 pm on Monday night, when officers were called to reports of a collision on M56 eastbound between junction 10, Stretton, junction 9, Lymm Interchange.
It was discovered that a blue BMW had collided with the central reservation. Three further vehicles subsequently collided with the BMW.
As reported by Warrington Worldwide four casualties were treated by paramedics at the scene.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “The driver of the BMW, a 34-year-old man from Abram, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
“He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
