Warrington Rylands moved back to winning ways on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 win against Leek Town at The Hive Arena.
Warrington are in the middle of a hectic February and their work ethic is beginning to tell. Tired legs and slight injuries meant that manager Neil Reynolds was forced to change the line-up for this match at the last minute. However, he has full belief in his squad and rightly so.
Leek have not had a great month and were hoping to bounce back from a home defeat against Whitby with a win, but Rylands had other ideas.
The Blues controlled most of the match and Luke Pilling in goal must have felt the chill of the evening with very little to do keeping the first clean sheet since the win against Prescot Cables.
The evening belonged to Jake Daniels, though, scoring a brace of goals, one in each half. Using his trademark move he cut in from the left and let fly a shot that could only leave keeper Dino Visser flapping in mid-air with Reynolds claiming “they were probably the two goals of the season”.
Reno was pleased with his side’s performance following back to back defeats at the feet of Gainsborough Trinity and Macclesfield and “is glad we’re back to winning ways”.
“My target when I came to Rylands was to achieve 45 points and we’ve done that”. He went on to say “toward the end of the game we didn’t move the ball as well as in the first half but that was mainly down to tired legs”.
Warrington have an exciting Development Squad and two of these youngsters were on the bench. Kris Smith came on for the last ten minutes and showed his ability – a name to look out for in weeks to come.
Rylands travel to Greenwich Avenue in Nottingham on Saturday 22nd February to face Basford United who will be hoping to secure a third win on the bounce.
