Motorists advised to avoid Glazebury as flooding closes main road

MOTORISTS are being advised to avoid the Glazebury area of Warrington following serious flooding on the A574 Warrington Road, today, Wednesday.

Local Cllr Alicia Edwards took to social media to alert people to avoid the area after flood waters under the bridge near the Chat Moss pub.

She posted:

“PLEASE AVOID GLAZEBURY ❌ impassable
flood under the Bridge near the Glazebury pub (Chat Moss) this has been reported by myself & Police and Fire service are present.

It’s not the first time the area has flooded.
In January 2021 local farmer Dan Broster helped clear an estimated 58,000 gallons of water from the area as volunteers rallied to a the crisis.
It is one of a number of flood issues across the town.
