NEW 40 mph speed limits are set to come into force on three stretches of road at Croft, Warrington, tomorrow, Thursday.

Following a request to review the speed limits within the Croft area it was identified that in the main existing speed limits are correct with a clear transition for rural to urban stepping down from 40mph to 20mph in the residential streets.
Three sections of highway were noted as retaining historical derestricted speed limits with assessments identifying mean and average speeds that would allow for this to be reduced to 40mph and be in keeping with the similar roads in the area.

WARRINGTON Borough Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers on 27th November 2024. The effect of the Order is to introduce a 40 miles per hour speed limit on the roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice to the extent as detailed in the said Schedule, resulting in the roads specified no longer retaining their historical de-restricted classification.
The Order will be effective from Thursday, 28th November 2024.
