WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols visited locally based 10:10 Games to meet with Head of Publishing and co-founder Arthur Parsons.

She was visiting in her new capacity as Chair of the Video Games and Esports All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) to see first-hand 10:10 Games, a video game developer based in Warrington. Founded in 2021 they have recently released their new game Funko Fusion.

Ms Nichols MP said:”It was fantastic to meet Arthur Parsons, Head of Publishing and the Co-Founder at 10:10 Games, to discuss skills in gaming and the wider issues the industry faces- particularly in investment, getting the policy framework right, and workplace culture.

“Having just launched Funko Fusion, there are some exciting new projects in the pipeline, and it’s great to see the studio leading the way on creating job and apprenticeship opportunities locally for new starters in the industry including close working with Warrington & Vale Royal College to ensure that the education and skills offer locally is setting students up to succeed. Over half of their team were hired fresh out of university, and others came through the apprenticeship route, but this is something we’re not seeing nearly enough of in the wider industry.

“As the new Chair of the Video Games and Esports APPG, working closely with the trade body UKIE, I’m keen that the good practice at 10:10 becomes the industry norm, and that we can work together to ensure the industry is on a sustainable footing! With the video game sector GVA larger than the UK music and film industries combined, its success benefits us all whether you’re a gamer or not.”

Charlotte has recently been elected as the new chair of the Video Games and Esports All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG). The APPG aims to raise the industry’s profile in Parliament and highlight key areas such as the growing importance of Esports, the potential of artificial intelligence in games and how to amplify the sector’s contributions to the UK economy.
