FOLLOWING reports of anti-social behaviour on Orford Lane, Charlotte Nichols MP met with Warrington Central Beat Officers to raise concerns and learn what the Police have done locally to deal with crime.
Orford residents have reported a number of issues in the area to Ms Nichols over the last few years. These include violence, drug-dealing and fly-tipping.
The Warrington North MP said: “It was great to meet with the Warrington Central Beat Management from Warrington Police for a briefing and foot patrol around the Orford Lane area, to discuss local matters related to crime and antisocial behaviour raised with me.
“Officers assured me they were doing everything possible to combat crime when it happens, and take measures from preventing it from happening in future.
“I know that fly tipping and litter are a problem here, an issue which has been growing across the country. I encourage anyone who discovers fly-tipping to report it to their local councillors.’
Fly-tipping can also be reported online.
She says the new Government is planning on introducing Respect Orders, which will create powers to ban persistent adult offenders from town centres, which will stamp out issues such as public drinking and drug use. Fly-tippers and vandals will also be forced to clean up the mess they have created.
Once proposals are put forward and approved, these laws will be applied nationally and will help places like Orford Lane.
