A NEW music festival is to be launched in Warrington town centre this Spring, with the aim of igniting a passion for live classical and jazz music in the community.

From May 30 to June 3, Warrington Concert Series (WCS) will debut a series of
classical and jazz concerts in the town. Combining top-tier performances with accessible ticket prices, WCS is dedicated to ensuring that the beauty of live classical music is accessible to all members of the community, regardless of their familiarity with the genre.
With tickets starting at just £5.00 for concessions and students, and £10 for adults, the festival promises an exhilarating lineup of live music. From beloved composers such as Liszt, Chopin, and Haydn to captivating jazz improvisations, festival organisers urge community members to come and experience the spirit of live music on their doorstep.

Organised by local Warrington pianist and music educator, Joshua Kelly, and event director, Natalie Baker, the new 5-day festival will feature notable musicians including jazz duo Les Chisnall and Iain Dixon, solo Soprano Georgie Malcolm and pianist Nico De Villiers, as well as a piano quintet, Aestus String Quartet and Jordi Baloch.
Joshua Kelly said: “This festival marks an exciting moment for Warrington’s music scene and cultural landscape. It’s an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beauty of live classical and jazz music and experience some wonderful performances. I couldn’t be more excited to be part of it. We’d love to see as many people there as possible.”

In addition to the professional performances, the Warrington Concert Series team will host a community concert open to Warrington-based pianists of all skill levels on Saturday June 1.
The community event will provide a platform for local pianists of all ages to come together, perform, and enjoy an afternoon of music. Organisers welcome those who wish to watch and support to attend as audience members. Full details on how to get involved are available at warringtonconcertseries.com

  1. I wish this venture success. But the Parr Hall used to regularly host concerts by the Liverpool Philharmonic and has also featured world-class jazz artists. They don’t any more – presumably because of lack of support.
